Discovering One's Mission and Purpose

March 19, 2010

Dear friends, business owners, leadership students,

Do you know how the Lone Ranger discovered his mission and purpose?

You can view the amazing first episode at:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/84787/the-lone-ranger-enter-the-lone-ranger

If you don't have 25 minutes, I will summarize it for you in one line:

The Lone Ranger, originally a Texas Ranger policing the wild west and the sole survivor of an ambush by a double crossing outlaw and his associates, left for dead and bleeding in a canyon when found by an Indian named Tonto whom he had helped as younger man, dedicated his life to establishing law and order and making his territory a decent place to live as a marked man under a secret identity when he was nursed back to life as a favor returned.

What is the sacred wound in your life and how can you turn this passion (latin, "to suffer") into worthwhile work that feeds a hunger and meets a need in the world?

Can't relate to the Lone Ranger? Then google Candy Lightner, Bobby Muller, Herb Brooks, Mack Newton and other heroes and you will find a sacred wound launched an effort that fully engaged them. Special thanks to my brother Tom Esch who showed me this insight.
